Joe Suzuki is a Japanese American visual artist based in Los Angeles. Born in Tokyo in 1976, he moved to the United States in 1988 and later studied fine art at California State University, Northridge and Claremont Graduate University.

His practice draws on his experience as a first-generation immigrant and the cultural space between Japan and the United States. Through painting, sculpture and mixed media, Suzuki explores identity, assimilation and belonging while engaging with the visual language of popular culture and consumer imagery.

Often playful and ironic, his works appropriate familiar symbols and objects, transforming them through unexpected materials, forms and cultural references. Beneath their immediate visual appeal, they reflect on the contradictions of contemporary consumer culture and Suzuki’s own experience of navigating multiple identities.

His work has been exhibited internationally in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as in museums, galleries and cultural institutions across the United States and Asia.
