Paul Sibuet is a French contemporary artist whose practice draws on his background in art and design. After developing his technical foundations through formal training, he gradually moved away from established conventions to build a highly personal visual language centered on form, volume, material, color and the interplay of light and shadow.

His work moves freely between abstraction and figuration, painting and sculptural approaches. Shapes, lines and materials are organized into compositions that appear carefully constructed yet deliberately unstable, creating a tension between order and spontaneity. Monochrome surfaces and contrasting textures further emphasize the physical presence of his works, while light becomes an active element that transforms their perception.

Sibuet’s practice is also driven by a series of recurring contrasts: sensuality and restraint, innocence and transgression, reality and imagination. Familiar objects and recognizable forms are often displaced from their usual context, allowing them to acquire new, sometimes ambiguous meanings. This balance between attraction and unease gives his work a playful yet provocative character.

In series such as Breaking the Glass, Sibuet confronts imagery associated with childhood with the codes, desires and contradictions of the adult world. Rather than constructing a fixed narrative, he creates dreamlike environments in which memories and impulses coexist. Through this tension between the familiar and the unexpected, his works invite viewers into a visual world shaped by freedom, ambiguity and imagination.
