Top Dog (2020) presents Huang Yulong’s signature hooded figure in a relaxed seated pose, rendered in aluminium with a striking contrast between its reflective silver body and golden face.

The folds of the oversized clothing are articulated across the metallic surface, translating the visual codes of contemporary streetwear into sculpture. Beneath the hood, the absence of facial features creates an anonymous presence, while the polished golden interior catches and reflects the surrounding light.

Through this combination of urban dress, traditional sculptural form and reflective materials, Huang Yulong explores questions of identity and the cultural language of a generation shaped by global hip-hop and street culture.
