Street Lean (2024) captures a street dancer suspended in a breaking freeze, balancing upside down as the legs twist above the body.

The pose relies on strength, balance and precise control, freezing a highly physical moment of dance in sculptural form. Executed in stainless steel, the work emphasizes the folds of the dancer’s loose clothing and the tension created by the inverted body, while its reflective surface changes with light and viewpoint.

Drawing directly from hip-hop and breaking culture, Huang Yulong uses the language of street dance to explore movement, attitude and individual expression. In Street Lean, the temporary nature of a freeze is transformed into a permanent moment of balance and energy.
