The Lions (2020) is a resin sculpture by Chinese artist Huang Yulong, featuring two hooded figures seated side by side on elaborately decorated sculptural bases.

Rendered entirely in white, the work creates a striking contrast between the anonymous figures and the highly detailed ornamental elements surrounding them. Each figure holds a distinct object, adding a sense of narrative and symbolism to the composition while maintaining the mysterious, concealed identity characteristic of Huang Yulong’s hooded characters.

The combination of contemporary urban imagery and richly decorated sculptural forms creates a dialogue between popular culture, traditional visual references and contemporary sculpture.
