Mocking Bird is a bronze sculpture by Chinese artist Huang Yulong, created in 2020. The work features one of the artist’s signature hooded figures, its face concealed beneath the hood and replaced by a reflective golden surface.

Drawing on the visual language of hip-hop and contemporary urban culture, Huang Yulong uses the anonymous figure to explore identity, individuality and the meeting of different cultural influences. The contrast between the dark bronze figure and its luminous face gives Mocking Bird a distinctive and enigmatic presence.
