Air Hood Kid (2024) captures a street dancer in a breaking freeze, with the body extended horizontally above the ground and supported through a single point of contact.

The pose creates a striking impression of weightlessness, transforming a demanding moment of strength and control into a seemingly effortless gesture. Cast in stainless steel, the sculpture preserves the folds and movement of the dancer’s loose clothing while its reflective surface heightens the contrast between the solid material and the sense of suspension.

Through the physical vocabulary of breaking, Huang Yulong explores balance, gravity and individual expression. Air Hood Kid turns a fleeting street-dance movement into a permanent sculptural form, retaining the energy and attitude at the heart of the artist’s urban visual language.
