Intérieur d’Atelier: Hilma af Klint (2026) brings together portraiture, the intimacy of the artist’s studio and Sébastien Bayet’s distinctive exploration of material.

The composition places a seated figure within a richly layered interior, surrounded by forms and motifs that evoke the visual universe of Hilma af Klint. Rather than simply depicting a studio, Bayet constructs a dialogue between the human figure, art history and the physical surfaces that surround it.

Oil and acrylic are combined with fabrics directly on the canvas, introducing changes in texture, density and relief throughout the composition. Painted passages merge with collaged textiles, allowing material itself to become part of the image and its memory.

At 195 cm high, this unique work has a strong physical presence while retaining the intimate atmosphere of an interior scene.
