Atelier Nicolas de Staël (2026) imagines the artist’s studio as a meeting point between figure, material and abstraction.

A standing figure occupies the foreground, while the surrounding interior is constructed through fragmented planes of green, blue, black and ochre. These blocks of colour introduce an abstract structure into the scene, creating a dialogue with the pictorial language associated with Nicolas de Staël.

Rather than reconstructing the studio literally, Sébastien Bayet approaches it as an imagined space shaped by the memory of another artist’s work.
