Smile (2024) is a unique work by Mr. Brainwash, bringing together street-art imagery, graffiti-inspired gestures and the artist’s characteristically exuberant use of colour.

At the centre of the composition, a child wearing an oversized camera stands against a densely layered background of handwritten words, symbols, splashes and vibrant colour. Messages of love, hope and optimism emerge across the surface, while the richly painted frame extends the composition beyond the canvas itself.

The contrast between the largely monochrome figure and the energetic surrounding colours is characteristic of Mr. Brainwash’s visual language, in which references to street culture, popular imagery and positive messages are layered into highly expressive compositions.
