N.E.S.W (2022) brings together four of Huang Yulong’s anonymous hooded figures in a single sculptural composition.

Standing side by side, the figures share the same white streetwear while their concealed faces are distinguished by vivid orange, grey, red and blue. Each adopts a different pose and carries its own attributes, creating a sense of individuality within the group.

The title refers to the four cardinal directions — North, East, South and West — extending Huang Yulong’s exploration of identity beyond the individual figure toward ideas of orientation, movement and connection across different places and cultures.
