Spin Painting (Butterfly) (2009) transforms Damien Hirst’s celebrated Spin Painting technique into the silhouette of a butterfly, one of the most recognizable motifs in his practice.

Layers of acrylic and metallic paint radiate across the paper in vivid red, blue, green and black, creating a dense composition shaped by centrifugal movement and chance. The symmetry of the butterfly contrasts with the unpredictable distribution of paint, bringing together a controlled form and an inherently spontaneous process.
