Bubble (2017) is a unique work by American graffiti artist SEEN, built around the bold bubble lettering that has long been central to graffiti’s visual language.

Across the elongated canvas, rounded orange and yellow forms expand into a continuous composition, outlined in black and punctuated by blue circular elements and sharp white highlights. The exaggerated volume of the letters gives the work an almost three-dimensional quality, while the artist’s tag anchors the composition at the right.

Executed entirely in spray paint, the work translates the energy and immediacy of graffiti onto canvas while retaining the scale, colour and graphic impact associated with SEEN’s street-based practice.
