Man on Dolphin (1987) propels Keith Haring’s graphic universe into a playful marine scene: a radiant figure rides a dolphin above a crowd of dancing silhouettes, transforming the water below into a stage of collective energy.

The stark black-and-white composition concentrates Haring’s visual language into a few vibrant lines, echoing the immediacy of his celebrated Subway Drawings of the 1980s. Through humour, freedom and movement, the work brings together several elements that made his imagery an enduring part of New York’s visual culture.

Printed on wove paper, the lithograph was produced in an edition of 170, plus 7 artist’s proofs, and is signed and numbered in pencil. The work is certified by the Keith Haring Foundation.

Haring’s works are held in major museum collections worldwide, including The Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
