Pablo, Andy, Norman, René, Roy meet Rockwell, Murakami, Picasso, Miller and Lichtenstein 2 (2023) is a unique work by French artist Gully, staging an imaginary encounter between major figures and images from modern and contemporary art.
Set within a museum interior, the composition brings together references to Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Norman Rockwell, René Magritte, Takashi Murakami, Arthur Miller and Roy Lichtenstein. Their works coexist within the same fictional exhibition space, while visitors and unexpected objects animate the scene.
Gully constructs the image through quotation and juxtaposition, shifting familiar artworks into a new narrative. The museum itself becomes part of the composition: a space where different periods, artistic languages and cultural references collide, inviting the viewer to identify each visual reference while discovering the relationships created between them.
Executed in mixed media on paper, the work measures 100 × 150 cm and is hand-signed by the artist.
